Theory Test
Before you can apply for a practical driving test you must pass a theory test. The theory test consists of two sections and you will be required to pass both these sections in order to pass the theory test. The two theory test sections are outlined below.
Section 1- Multiple Choice: This section is the more “easier” section as you are given a question and 4 possible answers. You are required to get 43 out of 50 in order to successfully pass this section. You are given the option of taking a trial section where you can get used to the layout and style of the multiple choice section. Students generally tend to find this section easier as there are a lot of resources available to aid students in revising for this section.
Section 2 - Hazard Perception: This section is about how you react to a given situation as a driver and how you “precieve” other road users. You will be given a short demonstration on how this particular section of the test works. In this section of the test the computer will display 14 video clips with a different scenario in each and you have to respond to potential hazards in each of the scenarios by clicking the mouse. To perform well in this section you must click the mouse as soon as you see a “developing hazard”. The maximum you can score in each scenario is 5 and you must get at least 44 out of 75 to pass this section.
Good Luck,
